Biography

I am a Master's student in Wildlife Science at Oregon State University (OSU), and I hold a B.S. in Marine Biology with Honors from the University of Rhode Island (URI). During my undergraduate studies, I contributed to environmental education programs at aquariums and supported deep-sea exploration efforts through live research operations. My academic background includes fieldwork in tropical marine ecosystems and research in marine biology, with a focus on zooplankton and the early development of sharks and skates. My technical skills include biological sampling, data analysis, SCUBA diving, and operating marine instrumentation. After URI, I worked extensively at sea as a NOAA Fisheries Observer out of Dutch Harbor, AK, where I collected critical biological data, monitored vessel compliance with federal regulations, and contributed to NOAA's electronic monitoring program in challenging offshore conditions.

My research at OSU focuses on the overlap between endangered Southern Resident killer whales and vessels off the outer coast of Washington using passive acoustic monitoring. I am also working with Dr. Hannah Myers and the Alaska Seafood Cooperative on a killer whale bycatch project out of Dutch Harbor, AK. I am passionate about killer whales and conservation as a whole, and I look forward to making contributions to the field!
