In 2009, the National Geographic TV special aired a documentary, "The Kingdom of the Blue Whale".  Narrated by Tom Selleck, it followed the Marine Mammal Institute's scientific expedition to the Costa Rica Dome in search of breeding and calving areas for the blue whale.
